Hey, awesome readers! I’m thrilled to kick off summer 2025 with a big smile! The sun shines brightly, days stretch long, and exciting things are happening in Arizona and beyond. At home, we’re dog-sitting for a friend all month. Murphy, the adorable pup, brings joy and surprises to our lives. Let’s dive into updates that’ll make you feel as happy as a perfect summer day!
Arizona’s Safety Win: Proposition 314
Arizona’s leaders are working to make our state safer with Proposition 314, also called the “Secure the Border Act.” Approved by over 60% of voters in November 2024, it strengthens community safety. For example, it bans fake documents for jobs or benefits and sets more rigid rules for dangerous drugs like carfentanil, which is 600–1,000 times more potent than medical-grade fentanyl. Additionally, it makes crossing the Arizona-Mexico border outside legal ports a state crime, allowing local police to arrest and state judges to deport violators. However, this border enforcement awaits a court ruling, similar to Texas’s Senate Bill 4, which is being upheld for 60 days. Arizonans want a safe and welcoming state for all who come with good intentions and to live here legally.
Big National Victories
Nationally, we secured 53 of 100 Senate seats, choosing leaders to keep our country strong. In Arizona, we supported candidates who prioritize safe borders and economic growth—values I care about deeply. It’s like giving our Nation a summer glow-up! Moreover, the Big Beautiful Bill just passed, delivering significant tax cuts. For instance, an average family of four could see up to $13,300 more in take-home pay. The bill exempts seniors from taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security, plus expands the child tax credit. It also modernizes air traffic control to boost the economy. In short, this pro-growth, pro-worker, pro-family law aims to restore the American Dream, and I’m all in for that!
